A Fine Night's Swim
Leilani looked around to make sure that she was alone. The sun had almost sunk below the western horizon, painting the sand and the high tide alike a deep golden orange. Leilani closed her eyes for a moment. She felt the gentle breeze on her face and heard the repeated soft crashes of the waves calling to her. Able to wait no longer, she pulled her dress up over her head and stashed it near a patch of sea lettuce. She enjoyed the cool of the evening on her bare skin, but she hadn't undressed just to stand naked on the sand. She waded out into the water and plunged in. The warm ocean waters embraced Leilani. She swam out from the shore toward the nearby reef. On her way, she passed a sea turtle going the opposite direction, back to shore for a night's rest. Coming upon the reef, Leilani spotted a dazzling array of creatures: the blue-and-yellow-striped angelfish, the pig-snouted triggerfish that snapped at divers when they got too close, a massive school of bright yellow tang, and
